Only after successfully passing the theory exam can you take the driving practical exam. You can prepare for the theory exam by studying with a group (at a driving school) or independently. Theory Exam at Driving School

If you decide to prepare for the driving theory exam and learn traffic rules at a driving school with a group, according to the driving school's rules, you will first need to pass the theory exam provided by the driving school. This is a great opportunity to prepare for the "Regitra" theory exam and ensure that you have learned the principles of the Traffic Rules well.

"Regitra" Theory Exam

"Regitra" Theory Exam is a theory exam conducted in person at VĮ "Regitra," during which your theoretical traffic rules skills are tested. Passing the theory exam at "Regitra" is necessary for anyone wishing to drive.

The "Regitra" theory exam for category B consists of 30 closed questions, for categories AM and A – 35, and for categories C and D – 40. To pass the category B theory exam, you must correctly answer at least 80% of all questions, which is 24 correct answers. This means the maximum number of mistakes you can make is 6. You have 30 minutes to complete the test. Some answer questions faster, while others need more time to delve into the questions. The system immediately informs you of the result of the driving theory exam at "Regitra" after the results are submitted.

"Regitra" Mock Theory Exam 

"Regitra" publishes a mock theory exam on its website for those who want to test their knowledge before the main theory exam. The "Regitra" mock theory exam is very similar to the real one, as it also consists of 30 closed questions, lasts a maximum of 30 minutes (for category B), and is created on the same principle as the real one. It is best to ensure that you can solve the "Regitra" mock theory exam correctly at least 80% several times in a row before going to take the "Regitra" theory exam.

"Regitra" Theory Exam Fee

How Long is the Theory Exam Valid?

A positive theory exam result is valid until the practical exam is passed, but no longer than one year. This means that after successfully passing the theory exam at "Regitra," you must pass the practical driving exam at "Regitra" within one year. If you do not pass the driving practical exam within a year, you will have to retake the theory exam at "Regitra."

What is Needed to Take the Driving Theory Exam at "Regitra"?

To take the driving theory exam at "Regitra," you will need to present 3 documents listed below:

• A personal identification document.

• A valid driver's health check medical certificate, confirming that your health condition is suitable for driving the respective category(-ies) of vehicles.

• Health knowledge certification, confirming the completion of training according to the mandatory first aid training program.

You will also need to present a valid driver's license if it was previously issued and there is no information in the Lithuanian Republic's road vehicle drivers' register about the examinee's right to drive vehicles.

How Does the Theory Exam at "Regitra" Take Place?

It's normal to feel nervous when taking the theory exam for the first time. Knowing in advance how the exam will proceed and what to expect will make it easier to prepare and get ready.

• Registration. It is most convenient to register for the exam online on the "Regitra" website, but you can also do it by visiting a "Regitra" branch or calling the "Regitra" Information Center at 8 700 55 151. Be prepared that you may have to wait a few days for the nearest available exam slots, depending on "Regitra's" occupancy. Before registering, you will need to present the previously discussed documents – a personal identification document, a medical health check certificate, and a first aid knowledge course completion certificate.

• Exam Rules. You will take the exam at tablet or regular computers, along with several other people at the same time. During the exam, it is prohibited to keep personal items on the table, use a mobile phone, or other aids. It is also prohibited to wear a jacket, hat, or other head coverings (exceptions may be made for aesthetic, medical, or religious reasons). You cannot talk to others, change the monitor's tilt angle, or sit in a place that is not yours. If it is discovered that someone other than the registered person has come to take the exam, the police will be notified. Video and audio recordings are made during the theory and practical exams.

• Exam Duration. The duration of the exam depends on the category being taken, as exams for different categories consist of a different number of questions. For example, category B consists of 30 questions, so you will have 30 minutes to answer them. If you do not manage to answer everything within 30 minutes, the exam will automatically end, and only the questions you answered will be evaluated.

• Exam Answer Process. When answering questions, you can skip them and return to them later. Once you submit your final answers, you will immediately see your theory exam result. After finishing, you can review the mistakes made during the exam, as well as the correctly and incorrectly answered questions.

• Retakes. You can take the "Regitra" theory exam an unlimited number of times, but if you fail, you can retake it no earlier than 7 calendar days later. If you are caught cheating during the exam, you will not be able to register for the exam again for at least a year.

• Failure to Attend the Exam. If you registered to take the theory exam but cannot attend, you must inform "Regitra" at least one day before the exam. Otherwise, the next registration date will be postponed by a month.

• What to Do After Passing the "Regitra" Theory Exam? After passing the theory exam at "Regitra," do not forget to take the document confirming successful completion, and when you are ready, register for the practical driving exam.
